The Little Things That Make Life Easier - And Why Macramé and Plants Are the Perfect Pair

Sometimes the smallest things are the ones we use the most.
A simple plant hanger that frees up space on a shelf. A wristlet that keeps your keys easy to grab when your hands are full. A sturdy keyring that doesn’t disappear into the bottom of a bag.
They’re not complicated things, but they make everyday life just a little bit easier.
And often, they happen to be handmade.
Why Macramé and Plants Work So Well Together
If you spend enough time around plants, you start noticing macramé.
Plant hangers appear in sunny windows. Trailing plants spill gently from knotted cotton cords. Empty corners suddenly become small green spaces.
It’s a combination that feels natural.
Macramé adds texture and warmth, while plants bring life and movement to a room. Together they create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that suits both modern homes and older spaces equally well.
But there’s also a very practical reason plant lovers appreciate macramé.
Space.
When You Run Out of Shelf Space
Plant collections have a funny habit of growing.
One plant becomes two. Two become five. Before long, every available surface has a pot sitting on it.
Macramé plant hangers solve this problem beautifully.
By hanging plants instead of placing them on shelves or tables, they allow you to use vertical space. Windows, corners, and empty walls suddenly become perfect homes for plants.
It’s a simple idea, but one that makes a big difference when your collection starts expanding.
The Little Things You Use Every Day
While plant hangers often get the most attention, smaller macramé items can be just as useful.
Wristlets make it easier to carry keys when your hands are busy — something that happens surprisingly often when you're carrying plants, watering cans, or gardening supplies.
But also, after I made my first wristlet I was surprised to realise how often I actually drop keys! If you had asked me beforehand, I would have said that's just not a thing, I don't drop keys. But after using mine and the wristlet catching my keys on many occasions, I realised that this scenario occurred far more than I cared to admit without even realising it....
Macramé keyrings also have a practical advantage. The soft cotton cord makes them easier to find in a bag compared with small metal keys alone.
They’re small details, but they’re the sort of items people end up reaching for every day without thinking about it.
Why Handmade Pieces Feel Different
There’s something about handmade pieces that feels special.
Macramé is created knot by knot, which means every piece has its own character.
Some of the macramé pieces here are ones I’ve made myself, while others are carefully chosen from makers whose work fits beautifully with the style of the shop.
The aim is always the same — simple, practical pieces that are durable and enjoyable to use.
Small Things, Big Difference

Plants tend to be the stars of the show.
But sometimes it’s the smaller details around them that make a space feel complete.
A plant hanging in the right window. A handmade piece adding texture to a room. A small item you use every day without even thinking about it.
Those little things quietly make life easier.
And often, they make a space feel more like home.
